The patient had swelling on the anterior aspect of her right foot for 1 year with increasing pain over the past 2 months. Moreover, a positive Tinel sign was present over the swelling. Magnetic resonance imaging revealed a large schwannoma mass in the deep peroneal nerve. Consequently, the patient?s large schwannoma was completely excised along with its capsule.
Schwannomas are benign tumors of the peripheral nerves that rarely exhibit malignant transformation. Treatment is considered to be curative if complete resection is achieved.
