Abstract

Professor M. Gazi Yaşargil (1925–2025), celebrated worldwide as the “Neurosurgeon of the Century,” revolutionized neurosurgery through his pioneering introduction of the surgical microscope, the development of microsurgical instruments, and the creation of novel operative techniques. His approach synthesized art and science, redefining neurosurgery as both a technical discipline and a creative pursuit. Yaşargil’s philosophy emphasized precision, empathy, humanism, and innovation, inspiring generations of surgeons to approach the brain with both scientific rigor and artistic sensitivity.
