In the Lidocain treated group there was a statistically significant improvement in the latendes and amplitudes of somatosensory evoked potentials. The treated group showed also a more limited infarct area on the coronal brain sections. Light and electrone microscope examination revealed that the histopathological infarct process was delayed in the treated group.
