Department of Neurosurgery, GATA School of Medicine, Etlik-Ankara, TURKEY This paper is a retrospective analysis of 288 craniocerebral gunshot wounds treated over a 5-year period. Twenty-one in-hospital deaths occurred, most as a direct result of brain injury. The level of central nervous system (CNS) damage was the most valuable prognostic factor in these cases. The presence of diffuse brain damage, brainstem injury, CNS infection, or ventricular injury was associated with poor outcome. Keywords : Craniocerebral injury, prognostic factor, gunshot wound
